Treetops Lodge

Picture

Country: Kenya

Location: Aberdare National Park,

                     Mount  Kenya

Style: Lodge

Situated in the Aberdare National Park, Treetops Lodge overlooks a water hole and salt lick, therefore providing you with unhindered and close views of wild game.

Treetops is Kenya’s original tree lodge which is legendary for its historical royal connection. This game viewing lodge was originally built in 1932 and is famous as the place where Prince Philip and the then-Princess Elizabeth stayed when she ascended to the British Throne.

The lodge rises dramatically out of the ground on stilts.  It has four decks and a rooftop-viewing platform.   An optional buzzer in the rooms alerts the guests when a spectacle is unfolding at the waterhole.

There are 36 en suite guest rooms that include 3 spacious suites and 33 twin rooms which can be converted into double rooms.   A disabled friendly room is located on the first floor.

The suites have twin beds that can be converted to king size double beds, and an extended sitting area with large windows overlooking the watering hole. All rooms are fitted with showers.

The diningroom is equipped with an active cooking area, salad bar, and buffet counter for breakfast.  Dinner is served at refectory tables with bench seating which is intimate, relaxed and friendly.

Unobstructed animal viewing can be enjoyed while you relax in the bar and lounge area.

Activities involve sundowner game drives in Aberdare National Park, game drive in the Solio Rhino Sanctuary, and a full day tour to the moorlands.

A lecture about Treetops is also available to guests.

As Treetops is located very close to the wild animals, children under the age of 5 are not accommodated, both for their safety and to maintain the quiet of the environment.
