Tena Tena
Tena Tena is a tented camp located in Nsefu sector of the South Luangwa National Park. It is under a thick grove of mahogany trees, and sandwiched between the Luangwa River and a complex lagoon system which is a magnet for wildlife.
There are 5 tents each enjoying a private view onto a long stretch of the river where the hippos wallow and the lions roam. Every tent is specifically located to maximize total privacy within the rooms, the bathrooms, and on the verandas. These en suite bathrooms are spacious, open to the elements, and designed to copy nature with curved walls around the trees, simple subtle colours, and a view from every facility. The main area, moulded around a large termite mound and mahogany tree with an old hippo run adapted into the path between the different levels, is shaded by an enormous tent strung up between leadwood poles. Both day and night game drives are conducted in open top safari vehicles. Bush walks are led by a knowledgeable guide, and escorted by an armed National Park scout. Seasonal boating takes place during the emerald season - from end December/January to around April. The Wildlife Education Centre is a charitable trust for the school children of the Luangwa Valley to teach them about wildlife and conservation. |

You can also go on a village tour which includes a visit to the local schools, or alternatively take a stroll within the community around the Mfuwe area which is bustling with small “dukas” (shops), the market, bars, and people offering various skills.
