Tarangire Treetops

Picture

Country:  Tanzania

Location: Tarangire National Park

Style: Luxury Treehouses

Tarangire Treetops sits serenely in a private game reserve bordering the Tarangire National Park.

Centered about a main lodge, which itself encases a thousand year-old baobab tree, Tarangire Treetops comprises 20 treehouses all of which are perched high above the ground in the broad boughs of marula and baobab trees.

These treehouses spread through the branches of thousand-year old trees and boast extremely spacious bedrooms –  65 square metres – with exotic double shower en suite bathrooms.

With furnishings that create warmth and demonstrate a commitment to local craftsmanship, the ‘up-in-the-air’ experience is completed by the open-fronted room design affording you spectacular views across the Tarangire plains from an expansive but private balcony.

A variety of dining pleasures on offer are: a lantern-lit dinner in a traditional boma echoing to
the sounds of Masai chants; eating at the poolside by candlelight whilst a wealth of wildlife comes to drink at the lodge water hole; a bush lunch during a game drive through the famed Tarangire National Park; sundowner cocktails atop Sunset Hill where you can indulge in the deep orange sunsets that often welcome in the starry skies; a bush dinner under the stars.

Activities include a tour to a Masai village which is about 20-30 minutes’ drive from Treetops and gives a perfect insight to the life of the Masai; a boma dinner under the stars in a traditional Masai boma whilst enjoying the dancing and singing of Masai menfolk; day game drives in Tarangire National Park which is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions.

On these drives through the park you can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to animals such as waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons.

A walking safari, always an exhilarating adventure, is conducted in the company of an experienced guide and offers an up close opportunity to discover more about both fauna and flora.

Home to more than 550 species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts who can expect so see dozens of species even in the dry season.   The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world.   Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River.
