Swahili House, located in the heart of Stone Town, was originally built in the 19th century. It has been restored to its original state, but with certain changes, combining traditional influences with modern day facilities.
There are 5 floors which are built around a beautiful traditional Zanzibar courtyard. The 22 rooms spread out over 4 floors and are divided into 3 different room categories: Sultan Suites, Deluxe Rooms and Medium sized suites.
All rooms are decorated in traditional Swahili style, but adjusted to Western standards with air conditioners and fans. Most of them have en suite bathrooms including a shower and bath.
The rooftop terrace houses a bar, restaurant and a jacuzzi overlooking the Indian Ocean. You can enjoy a cocktail, lunch or dinner while indulging in stunning views of Stone Town and the Swahili Coastal area.
The á la carte menu is a combination of eastern and western influences, spices and flavours, and includes a wide variety of freshly caught fish and seafood. Continental and full English breakfast buffets are served from the rooftop kitchen every morning.
Swahili House is within walking distance to all the little bustling streets, alleys, market, shops, restaurants and other points of interest in Stone Town such as the House of Wonders.
Various trips in and around Stone Town are offered including spice tours, visits to the cheeky Colobus monkeys at Jozani Forest or exploring the magnificent Menai bay while snorkelling.
