Shindzela CampCountry: South Africa Location: Kruger National Park / Timbavati Private Nature Reserve Style: Tented Camp Shindzela is a small tented safari bush camp, set in a private concession within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the greater Kruger National Park.
It hosts a maximum of 16 guests in twin or double bed safari tents under thatch roofs, and positioned on timber decks. Tents are equipped with solar lighting, en suite bathroom with shower, hand basin and flush toilet. In summer, mosquito nets are fitted above the beds. Bedding and towels are provided. The décor is from local crafters and artists. The general guest area encompasses a swimming pool, dining room, lounge, kitchen, staff tents and a central African fireplace – a perfect spot to relive safari experiences around the fire. The camp overlooks a waterhole which is often frequented by many animals. Meals include a variety of homemade and South African recipes, freshly baked bread, and a large amount of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads. |
Most specific dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) are catered for, but prior notice is required.
Activities include daily walking safaris as well as day and night game drives in this Big 5 reserve. Over 350 bird species have been recorded in the reserve.
The camp is unfenced, making it very much part of this untamed territory with its wealth of wildlife.
If you want to soak up the magic of the African night, look out for game coming to drink at the water hole, marvel at the stars, and listen to the calls of wild animals, Shindzela’s Sleep Out Hide is the place!
It is covered in thatch, has a wooden interior deck, and can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests, each of whom is provided with a mosquito net. The Hide is furnished with single beds, linen or sleeping bags. Your armed ranger will also overnight in his accommodation alongside the Hide.
A spotlight is available for night time game viewing.
Regrettably, generally no children under 12 years are permitted at Shindzela, and no children under 16 years are allowed on walking safari activities.
Modern conveniences such as television and cell phones are unavailable as this camp prefers to immerse itself in the African wilderness.
