Sand Rivers Selous is located on the edge of the Rufiji River in the Selous Game Reserve, in the midst of stunning and diverse habitats.
It is at the heart of an intricate network of sand river channels, oxbow lakes and open plains.
Accommodation, in 8 open-fronted rooms set up on platforms overlooking the river, consists of en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, mosquito nets around the beds, and in-room safes.
For your convenience, charging sockets are provided in the rooms. However, charging of equipment can also be done centrally in the manager's office.
Regrettably hairdryers cannot be used in the lodge.
Guest facilities provided are a swimming pool, bar, mess area, and shop.
Please note that laundry facilities are quite basic and ironing is done with a coal iron.
Cell phone coverage is possible in some areas.
Because the Selous has so many different habitats, there is a wide range of safari activities on offer: from boating, fishing (for tigerfish and catfish found in the river), bush walks, game drives, fly camping, birding, picnics, to hot springs.
The reserve is home to all the larger mammal species: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and even the very illusive black rhino as well as wild dog and a vast array bird life.
You will also find crocs and hippos in and along the river.
Sand Rivers Selous welcomes children over the age of 8, but only children from 12 years can participate in fly camping or walking activities.
