Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is adjacent to the Parc National des Volcans in north western Rwanda, and is a truly luxurious retreat in the Virunga Mountains.
The guest cottages are privately situated in the folds of the hills, each having its own unique view.
They consist of 5 double cottages, 2 suites, and 1 family suite having a second bedroom with en suite bathroom. All are stone buildings featuring large sitting areas, fireplaces, dressing rooms and sheltered verandas.
Every bathroom has a bath, shower, double basins, flush loo and hot and cold running water.
The main lodge building includes a reception, sitting room, dining room, bar area, library / games room, a responsible tourism / community awareness room and shop. Two patio areas afford wonderful views to the Virunga Volcanoes and the surrounding lowland farmland.
Gorilla trekking is done with park rangers. Once the gorillas are located, you are allowed to spend a maximum of 1 hour with the gorilla family visited.
Other excursions include: community projects; conservation operations; treks into the forest; bird watching; visits to the genocide memorial, lava formations and lakes in the region.
Children are welcome to the lodge, but those under the age of 15 are not permitted to visit the gorillas.
