Countries: Southern Africa to Tanzania Style: Luxury Train Recapture the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era when privileged travellers experienced the magic and mystery of Africa in a relaxed and elegant fashion. In a series of journeys lasting from 48 hours to a month, the Pride of Africa links some of Africa’s greatest destinations - from South Africa, through Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia to Tanzania.
Rovos Rail offers 3 levels of accommodation in which all feature an electronic safe, en suite bathroom, and air-conditioner with individual temperature controls. Electric under-blankets are fitted on all the beds, and a comfortable waffle weave one-size-fits-all gown plus slippers are provided for each guest. A dedicated host/ess is available for full 24-hour room service, and can be called from the telephone in your suite. Cuisine meals on Rovos Rail are served in 1 sitting only in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining cars and are complemented by a selection of fine South African wines. The accent is on fresh local ingredients. Traditional dishes such as game are a speciality. Dietary requirements (vegetarians, vegans, diabetics etc.) are accommodated provided a detailed request has been made on the Reservation Form. Regrettably meals requiring strict religious observances are unable to be offered. |

Dress code during the day is smart casual, but a more formal attire is required for the evenings – jacket and tie for the gentlemen, and cocktail/evening dress for the ladies.
In maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era, there are no radios or television sets on board and the use of mobile phones and laptops are confined to the privacy of your suites.
Smoking is only allowed in the Club Lounge and in your private suite.
A limited laundry service on board is offered comprising household washers, dryers and steam irons.
In addition to a small gift shop, Rovos Rail also provides board games, playing cards, books and magazines for your use in the Lounge and Observation Cars.
Parents are asked to please be sensitive to the sophisticated and adult nature and atmosphere of the train by keeping their children respectful and quiet. Long journeys are not recommended for children under 13 years. There are no child-minding facilities or activities for children on board.
Regrettably the dimensions of the passages and layout of the train are not suitable for wheelchair-bound passengers.
