Rhino Safari Camp
Location: Matusadona National Park
Style: Luxury Safari Camp
Rhino Safari Camp is a small luxury rustic safari camp set in a wild and remote area within the Matusadona National Park on the shores of Lake Kariba.
Accommodation comprises a maximum of 14 guests in 7 twin bedded rooms where guests are offered a highly personalised safari experience that blends comfort and wildness.
These spacious stilted open fronted rooms all have breathtaking panoramic views. They feature comfortable beds with walk-in mosquito nets, and private open air shower and bathroom facilities with loads of hot water.
The guest areas include a platform completely open at the sides allowing the breeze from the lake to cool the interior offering views of the lake and the animals as they wander along the shoreline.
Tea, coffee and other beverages are available to guests throughout the day in the boma.
Rhino Safari Camp is unfenced therefore the wildlife roams freely on its established game trails.
Conservation efforts have ensured that a small but strong population of black rhino exists here. Buffalo, lion, leopard and elephant populations are also healthy in the area.
One of the striking features of the shoreline in the Matusadona is the forest of drowned trees. These make navigating the lake tricky, but form important habitats for aquatic birds and breeding grounds for the fresh water fish
