Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge

Picture

Country:  Uganda

Location: Queen Elizabeth National
                     Park

Style: Tented Lodge

In the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park and conveniently situated for wildlife viewing and Kyambura Chimp trekking, the Bush Lodge forms an excellent base for safaris.

The small scale set up is built along ecological principals and the unique setting has animals roaming in and out the camp.

There are 6 self-contained units which are spaciously placed between the indigenous bush. The rooms are made from a combination of canvas and local materials and built to ensure the best views on the seasonal Kamera River.

Each room has its own private en suite bathroom with an eco-toilet and an outside shower where 2 showerheads allow couples to take their starlit shower together.

Several circuits through the open savanna or along the crater lakes of Queen Elizabeth National Park reward visitors with a memorable safari experience.

The riverine forest of Kyambura gorge is home to a habituated chimp community.   Guided walking tours, organized by Uganda Wildlife Authority, offer a chance to see these and other primates in their natural habitat.

A variety of medium to long guided walks are organized within the Maramagambo Forest which is host to monkey populations and birdlife.

A 2 hour launch trip, during which a wide variety of animals can be observed from close range, takes guests to the mouth of Kazinga channel.

As the bush lodge is located just outside the National Park, walking safaris are offered within its own surroundings.

Visits are arranged to one of the oldest salt mines and industry in Uganda where salt is still mined by traditional methods.
