Plantation Lodge
Country: Tanzania Location: Ngorongoro Crater / Karatu Style: Lodge Plantation Lodge rests on the soft, red-brown hills amidst the vastness and silence of East Africa. The Lodge is located not far from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, and just a short journey from the Serengeti. The 16 individually furnished rooms and suites are distributed throughout the garden, some with verandas and direct access to the garden. A variety of flowering and fragrant trees and shrubs, such as bougainvillea, frangipani and jacaranda fill the garden which is put to good practical use, providing fruits from the mango and avocado trees for the guests. Coffee trees are also grown there. Colourful birds such as Fischer’s lovebirds or the yellow-bellied sunbird are regular visitors to the Lodge. Activities provided for your enjoyment include a walk with a resident staff member to a neighbouring coffee plantation where it is demonstrated how coffee beans are treated and used to make this beverage, and a visit to an adjacent farm where an insight can be gained into African country life. |
Massages by a qualified masseuse are available, but are not included in the overnight accommodation package.
The restaurant’s multi-course menu includes fresh vegetables, salads, herbs and fruit all grown in the garden. At lunchtime guests can enjoy el fresco dishes and in the afternoon coffee and cake is also served at one of the garden tables.
