Set on the edge of the forest and overlooking an open wetland meadow (or vlei), complete with watering hole, Vlei Lodge offers you close up encounters with a constant flow of wildlife coming down to the water’s edge.
6 secluded and stilted thatched suites, integrated into the bush, all feature a plunge pool, en suite bathroom, dressing room and a game viewing deck. Private dining in the suite can also be arranged.
Daily game drives in an open air safari vehicle in the early morning and late afternoon / evening and accompanied by an armed ranger and Zulu tracker provide sightings of the Big 5 as well as other varieties such as the elusive cheetah.
Nature walks, excellent birdwatching, riverboat cruises and canoeing along the Mzinene River are also on offer. At an additional cost many other excursions are available such as coastal flights, snorkelling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, turtle viewing, horse riding, and cultural visits
As the camp is unfenced visitors are required to be vigilant at all times and are not permitted to walk through the grounds at night unless accompanied by a guard.
Meals are served on the dining deck or on the edge of the vlei.
Access to Vlei Lodge is either by scheduled flights or road transfers.
