Nyungwe Lodge, built to blend in with the surrounding environment, is situated in a tea plantation on the edge of the Nyungwe closed canopy rain forest, home to 13 species of primate including chimpanzees.
All rooms and suites are forest facing and feature a fire place, air conditioning, private mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, electronic safe (laptop size), and international electric adaptors, international dial telephones, and flat LCD screen and digital satellite channels.
Guest areas consists of a bistro with outdoor heated swimming pool, boma area for outdoor dining and drinks, relaxation retreat with 2 treatment rooms and a Jacuzzi pool, gift boutique, and a fitness centre with treadmill, cycle and free weights.
Wireless internet access is available, as well as a daily laundry service. Conference facilities feature AV equipment.
The main lodge building is wheelchair friendly with relevant facilities.
The following activities can be arranged at an additional cost at the time of booking accommodation or upon arrival at the lodge: various primate trekking, Kamiranzovu swamp and waterfall walks, and a host of other guided walking trails.
Children under the age of 15 are not permitted to trek chimpanzees, but are able to see the other primates and wonders of the forest.
