Norma Jeane’s Lake View Resort

Picture

Country:  Zimbabwe

Location: Lake Mutirikwe

Style: Lodge

Norma Jeane’s Lakeview Resort, overlooking the peaceful Lake Mutirikwi, offers   accommodation reminiscent of colonial times, near the Great Zimbabwe Monument, one of Zimbabwe’s most well-known tourist attractions.

It is part of the history of the area, as it is built around the tin-roofed homestead of Murray MacDougal, the man responsible for the building of Lake Mutirikwi (previously known as the Kyle Dam).

There are  8 hotel rooms (with dining and lounge facilities), and 4 fully equipped self-catering (self contained) family lodges.    Both hotel rooms and self-catering chalets are en suite, and all have private balconies with views across Lake Mutirikwi.

In addition are 9 budget rooms with communal ablutions, kitchen and braai facilities. Full camping facilities include an all-weather boma.

The restaurant serves home-style full breakfasts and a la carte lunches. Dinnertime is a set menu.

Wireless internet connection is also offered.

Bass fishing in Lake Mutirikwi, as well as boat cruises, sailing and skiing are but some of the activities on offer, including a visit to the Zimbabwe Ruins where you can learn about the origins and history and eventual decline of the city, as well as the various trading routes, religious and social practices of the once thriving community in Zimbabwe.
