Lodge

Mutanda Lake Resort is spectacularly located on a private peninsula stretching into Lake Mutanda. This setting offers breathtaking views of small islands dotting the surrounding lake and a backdrop of misty volcanoes in nearby Rwanda and DR Congo.

Situated between Kisoro town, Mgahinga and Bwindi National Parks the resort makes a perfect base for gorilla trackers, volcano hikers, bird lovers as well as those looking for a secluded place in nature.

The 13 cottages are built on wooden platforms, each with private veranda and en suite bathroom, double, twin and triple rooms, and mosquito nets.

The main building where the restaurant is located resembles a Swiss chalet with an African touch.

This cosy restaurant offers a breakfast buffet for both early trackers and late risers.  Lunch can be ordered á la carte or a hearty packed lunch can be organised for those going gorilla tracking or hiking.

Meals are prepared with herbs and vegetables from their own garden.

The lodge provides free wireless internet from the restaurant, and a laundry service for guests staying 2 or more consecutive nights.

The south western part of Uganda is known as ''Little Switzerland,' a lush, mountainous region dotted with freshwater lakes, which makes a perfect base for a number of activities beyond gorilla tracking. The area is great for walking, hiking, mountain biking, cultural village tours, bird watching or water sport activities.

The lake is also home to the African clawless otter, which can frequently be seen from your veranda, and is one of the few lakes in Uganda that is bilharzia-free, therefore safe for swimming or experiencing a ride in a traditional dug-out canoe.  An alternative to paddling is a sunset cruise on the motorized pontoon boat.
