Masai Mara Camp, Kichwa TemboKichwa Tembo is situated along the Sabaringo River, which spills down the Oloololo escarpment and into the Mara River. The riverine forest provides refuge for unique bird and mammal species. Colourful butterflies can be seen darting through the dappled forest shade.
Kichwa Tembo boasts 2 camps: Masai Mara Tented Camp and its sister camp, Bateleur Camp, are located where the forest meets the sweeping plains in the path of the awe-inspiring Great Migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra, Masai Mara Tented Camp offers a forest and savannah experience. This camp, with 40 spacious tents, 12 of them luxury suites, overlooks the Sabaringo River and vast stretches of Mara grassland with their abundant herds of wildlife. Leisurely groups of warthog are seen wandering and feeding in amongst the tents. Twice daily game drives explore the Masai Mara in an open 4x4 safari vehicle in early morning and late afternoon or early evening. During the migration full day game drives afford you the thrilling experience of a picnic lunch among the massed herds. Interpretive bush walks are conducted either within the camp grounds, along the Oloololo escarpment or on the lush banks of the Mara River. Lectures on Masai culture are also offered, and at an additional cost there are Masai community visits and hot air ballooning. |
