The 5 camps at Londolozi, Pioneer Camp, Private Granite Suites, Varty Camp, Tree Camp, and Founders Camp are ideally situated within walking distance of one another over the space of one kilometre on the banks of the lush Sand River.
Founders Camp is a child friendly and intimate African safari in the classic style, replete with black and cream ticking fabric and original mahogany beds. Deep leather couches, military chests, compass safari lamps and a riverside lounge sala, create a mood of easy luxury and laid back welcome. The 10 en suite chalets have inter-connecting sky walks, and are positioned in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sand River. Each chalet has a private pool / Jacuzzi, private deck, air conditioning, fan, fridge, heater, Internet, mini bar, outdoor shower, hairdryer, safe, tea and coffee station, and complementary Wi-Fi . The Cubs Den is a children’s programme uniquely tailored for each child. Babysitting, laundry and room services are available. Activities include yoga where you are free to schedule a private yoga session in your room or in the shade of your deck, massage treatments, bush walks, bush breakfasts and adventure picnics, game tracking, birding, and astronomy lectures. |
If you wish for a more adventurous experience, why not spend a night cradled in the branches of a 1000 year old Ebony tree sleeping out under a clear, starlit winter sky. In the silence you can enjoy nature’s nocturnal orchestra and as the dawn chorus breaks, a golden sunrise lights up the phragmites reeds along the beautiful water course of the Sand River.
On visiting Londolozi in 1992 Nelson Mandela saw the vision that was being lived by the employees and management in collaboration with nature.
Starting at the 1926 Sparta Camp, situated in the heart of Varty Camp, the short village walk is in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela, and allows guests to interact with many of the staff and their families who have lived and worked at Londolozi for over 30 years.
