Lianshulu Lodge

Picture

Country: Namibia

Location: Caprivi

Style: Luxury Lodge

Lianshulu Lodge in the East Caprivi overlooks the Kwando River and is situated on a private concession inside the Mudumu National Park of Namibia.

The area is a lush wilderness of riverine forest, marsh and open woodland, providing a home for an abundance of wildlife.

There are 11 spacious, individually styled chalets, each with private bathroom and secluded, outside viewing deck.   A fringe of dense riparian forest offers shade and ensures complete privacy.

Meals are prepared by a professional chef and are served under a wild fig tree, and include breakfasts, brunches and congenial dinners by candlelight, followed by drinks served around a flickering fire.

The airy, thatched dining, lounge and bar areas open onto spacious, split-level and raised wooden decks, affording sweeping views over the Lianshulu lagoon and its verdant flood plains.   Wildlife can be comfortably observed from these vantage points.

Nature drives in the park are conducted in open 4X4 vehicles.   Other activities include guided morning walks in the park, birding, photographic and sunset boat cruises.   All activities are conducted by some of the region's most experienced, resident naturalist guides.

Many typical savannah species occur in the area – this including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, and specials such as roan, sable and oribi, with elephant and hippo being particularly abundant.

Approximately 400 species of birds have been recorded in the east Caprivi.   Different species of fish, such as bream, tigerfish and catfish can be identified from the lodge's viewing deck.
