Laborie Wine Farm

Picture

Country:  South Africa

Location: Cape Winelands / Paarl

Style: Luxury Country House Wine

           Estate

Laborie Wine Farm is nestled in the fertile Paarl valley, with the beautiful Paarl rock as background.

A visit to Laborie affords you the opportunity to reminisce about the Cape as it once was.   The farm was granted to Isaac Taillefert in 1691, named after the district of La Bri in France.

Laborie has been producing fine wines since 1698 and more than 300 years on, is one of the oldest operational wine farms in South Africa.

The farm produces some of the best Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines, an array of award-winning wines, an estate brandy and a unique fortified Pinotage dessert wine.

Visitors can overnight in the tranquil guest house and enjoy a delectable meal at the Laborie Restaurant.   In testament to Isaac Taillefert, Laborie continues to deliver in the best French heritage tradition.

The Laborie Wine Farm offers you luxury accommodation  in 8 guest rooms, and another  special room in the historic Manor House.

Views are of the beautiful Manor House gardens, vineyards and the majestic Drakenstein Mountains.

All rooms are furnished in a Cape French style and décor is inspired by the characteristics of the award winning wines.

Laborie’s Cellar Door is the ideal venue in which to savour and purchase Laborie's outstanding sparkling, natural and fortified wines and the estate's Alambic Brandy. The natural splendour of the Paarl Valley lies before you, the Paarl and Drakenstein Mountains, and vineyards abound - an incredible vista that surely makes this tasting room one of the most picturesque facilities of its kind and regarded as one of the most scenic tasting venues in the Cape Winelands.

It is an intimate tasting room where a cosy fire welcomes you in the winter or you can take in the views from the balcony in summer.   During the warm summer months,  picnics are on offer (bookings essential), with cheese platters as well as olive and wine pairings.

If you manage to time your stay for the weekend you can enjoy the Laborie Lazy Days Market which takes place every Saturday from 09h00 to 14h00.  The market offers visitors an exciting and varied selection of  lifestyle goods including freshly baked breads, coffee, cheese, olives, honey, charcuterie and other exciting fresh local produce exhibitors.    Although the primary focus is food, there promises to be something for everyone, from mouth watering food stalls to arts and craft stalls, as well as ample kiddies entertainment.
