Kyambura Lodge is situated at the eastern edge of Queen
Elizabeth National Park, in the western part of the great East African Rift
valley, with fantastic views over the national park and the Rwenzori Mountains
and a short distance from the Kyambura Gorge.
The lodge has been built using environmentally friendly local materials fitted by a local community workmanship. Accommodation is provided in 8 spacious self-contained grass-thatched cottages, with bathtubs/showers overlooking the park, running hot and cold water, electricity and a private wooden balcony offering stunning views of the wild plains. All cottages are privately spaced out in shrubbery surroundings for proper environment conservation. Spectacularly located at the edge of a cliff is the swimming pool, which is adjacent to the campfire where a local traditional dance troupe often performs. The restaurant and the lounge/bar/fireplace open to a sundowner deck overlooking the park. International and local cuisine is served and contains organic vegetables grown in their own garden. Activities include wildlife viewing of climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, birds, antelopes, and hopefully the illusive leopard, and a boat cruise on Kazinga channel watching hippos and crocodiles. |
Other safari options offer chimpanzee trekking, nature walks, and hikes in the African bush, or trips to the spectacular crater lakes of Bunyaruguru.
You can also take a guided walk to the local village and experience colourful African culture, and enjoy a chance to see ancient traditions still in practice today.
