Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Private Kwara Reserve. The Reserve spans an area of 175 000 ha (432 000 acres).
The concession shares a 30km water boundary with the famous Moremi Game Reserve and its unique location boasts both permanent water and seasonal flood plains as well as extensive dry bush wilderness. Favoured by labyrinths of permanent water channels and secret islands this area offers the perfect delta experience. Located around a pan, each of the 12 rooms is situated on a deck overlooking the pan which attracts game year round. All are en-suite with a flush toilet, double sinks and both an indoor and an outdoor shower. In addition each room has a private veranda with outdoor lounge chairs, the perfect place to relax and take in the magnificent views and soak up the atmosphere. The main area has a plunge pool, bar, and lounge as well as an orientation centre and a curio shop. A wide variety of activities include both day and night game drives, walking safaris, mokoro trips, as well as power boating and seasonal fishing. |
The mokoro trip is the quintessential delta experience. There is nothing more relaxing than poling along the lagoon and channels with your guide, soaking up the atmosphere and seeing things from a totally different perspective.
The camp also offers walking which is at the guides discretion during the green season.
Please note that the minimum age for both mokoro and walking activities is 12 years.
Fishing is also offered at Splash for 10 months of the year, but is prohibited in January and February as this is peak breeding season. Basic equipment is supplied, but avid fly-fishers are advised to bring their own equipment.
There are boats available at Splash which is the perfect way to travel along the waterways and have a great view of what is going on at the water’s edge and beyond. From August to December we also offer visits to the nearby heronries currently located in Godikwe and Gcobega lagoons along the main boating channel. The number of birds fluctuates from year to year, depending on the conditions they find favourable, but is a very worthwhile experience for birders.
