In a remote valley of the Mathews Mountain Range, Kitich Camp overlooks a river glade within the lush indigenous forest.
Amongst many other species, the forest is also home to elephant, melanistic leopard, bushbuck, giant forest hog, buffalo, as well as ancient cycads, spectacular butterflies, Turacos and wild orchids.
Each of the 6 tents, with views of the lush gorge of the Ngeng River, consists of a main bedroom with al fresco en suite bathroom (flush toilet and traditional safari shower).
The camp's cosy lounge with open fire and sheepskin-covered safari chairs has a view of the nocturnal wildlife emerging from the forest into the floodlit river glade.
Meals are served on the camp's spacious deck with a vista of the river glade, and follow a daily set menu, combining fresh organic ingredients and age-old Italian recipes.
You can venture along forest paths guided by the Samburu and Ndorobo people, or swim in natural rock pools in the crystal mountain streams.
Additional activities involve bird watching, bush meals and cultural visits to local Samburu families.
