Ivory Lodge is set on its own 6 000 acre conservancy bordering Hwange National Park, which is renowned for its huge tuskers – big old bulls with magnificent tusks.
Hwange is an excellent place to visit for a broad range of safari experiences and is “big game” country – lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo are often seen from the camp as well as in the park.
Ivory Lodge is built in the tree tops of giant teak forests. It is a small intimate lodge featuring 7 luxurious tree houses and 2 Presidential Elephant Suites set on elevated platforms amongst the indigenous flora of Hwange Game Park.
A library containing old African relics and a writing bureau provide a quiet refuge fitted with spotting scope and binoculars.
For those hot summer days, a swimming pool offers you a cool and refreshing respite.
Herds of elephants are frequently seen coming to drink at the lodge’s exclusive watering hole.
Over 100 species of mammals and more than 400 birds (with a supporting cast of innumerable insects, spiders, amphibians and reptiles) can also be seen in this region.
Activities include game drives – either in the game park or on the 6 000 acre concession – and walking safaris are conducted by experienced and knowledgeable guides.
