Fundu Lagoon is on the tropical island of Pemba, which is part of the Zanzibar archipelago. The hotel is situated on a remote and beautiful beach on the south western side of Pemba, and is only accessible by boat.
There are 18 en suite rooms, consisting of canvas tents set under makuti (thatch) roofs on wooden decks, all with views over the sea. The rooms are equipped with large double or twin beds, mosquito nets, fans, safes, fridges, and indoor and outdoor seating areas.
The rooms are connected to the main buildings by wooden walkways or paths through indigenous forest. Some rooms are situated along the beachfront and the remaining on the hillside, which have wide views over the lagoon.
The main hotel is built under thatch and is large and airy with a view of the ocean. Meals are served in the main dining area, at the jetty, or on the white sandy beach. There are 3 bars, one of which is situated on a jetty which stretches way out into the sea.
The treatment room offers a variety of massage and beauty therapies, and an infinity hillside swimming pool with a cocktail and snack bar overlooks the sea.
Fundu Lagoon presents you with exceptional opportunities to explore the rich sea life of the Pemba Channel. All the required equipment is available as well as an experienced dive team to take you to the deeper drop offs and coral reef.
Dhow sunset cruises and canoe safaris through the mangroves are also available, as well as excursions around Pemba island. You can also enjoy trips to nearby Misali Island where there is a protected marine reserve.
