De Opstal Country Lodge, situated just outside Oudtshoorn, along the Garden Route, is a beautiful farm house, which together with its stables and milking parlour, dates back to 1830.
All the buildings in the complex have been creatively converted into modern, quaint en suite bedrooms with the retention of an atmosphere of rustic charm. The terracotta floors, heavy wooden doors and shutters, and wide timber ceilings bear the scars, buckles and blemishes of generations of use and give the entire complex an authentic feel.
Hearty farm style breakfasts are served in the spacious restaurant, which is also decorated in a style similar to the rest of the complex.
Picnic lunches are provided on request.
Dinner is chosen from an à la carte menu, prepared from ostrich and regional ingredients. Booking is essential. The restaurant will be closed if less than 6 people book for dinner. If you wish to dine in town a shuttle service will then be available for transfers there and back at additional cost.
