Nestled in 190 acres of wooded Masai land, the lodge sits on the foot hills of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro.
The 83 rooms of the lodge are constructed as individual huts in mature wooded gardens with a variety of trees and plants sheltering the linking pathways. All rooms are en suite with private verandas.
The room interiors are decorated in an African theme with local materials like sisal, driftwood, Masai blanket fabric, canvas, and wrought iron.
Common guest facilities including the welcome areas, bars, dining areas, and terraces continue the Masai African theme and are designed to optimise the view of Kilimanjaro.
Of exceptional interest is Hemingway’s Bar, originally built by the author as a house in the shape of Africa, and a Masai market, which is owned by the local community.
Activities offered at the lodge include an African night and khanga. Breakfast, lunch or dinner can be arranged in the bush.
Also available are a gift shop, swimming pools, baby-sitting, and laundry.
Amboseli Sopa Lodge arranges and caters for small wedding ceremonies. Gala dinners are also arranged within the lodge grounds at an open venue with views of the Mountain.
